We encourage all our patients not to drive if possible. Sophiahemmet is easily reached by public transport (see directions). We are a large hospital with few parking spaces.

How long before a health assessment am I to fast?

At least 6 hours, please, although it’s fine to drink water during this time.

Why do I have to fast?

Your health assessment involves testing the levels of certain substances in your blood, such as sugar and fats, so the readings might be irregularly high if you have just eaten.

If I forget to fast, is there any point me turning up?

Yes, we can still do the tests, although there is a risk that some of the readings will need to be re-checked at your appointment with the physician.

How long does the health assessment take?

    30 minutes, or 40 minutes if you’re over 67. The physician’s appointment takes 30 minutes, or 60 minutes if you’re over 67.

    I have a cold. Should I cancel?

If you have a temperature and are on sick leave, you’ll have to cancel. Otherwise we’ll see you here!

I’m pregnant. Is there any point having a health assessment?

There’s nothing wrong with having a health assessment while pregnant; in fact, it’s a good idea as we go through your entire physical health status. The tests are a good complement to those taken at the antenatal clinic.

I’ve lost my Healthcare Questionnaire. What do I do now?

No problem. Just print out a new one here.

How long does a regular appointment with the physician taken?

    30 minutes.

Do I have to pay to see the physician?

Yes, you can pay either in cash or by card. We do not invoice for appointments.
